At the turn of the 20th century, there were 600 cable cars running on eight lines and 110 miles of track. Despite extensive damage inflicted by the 1906
earthquake, cable cars still clang their way up and down hills, depositing delighted visitors and savvy locals to their San Francisco destinations.
